Intent
At Northdown Primary School, our mission is to ignite and enrich children’s curiosity and experiences through digital literacy, ICT, and computer science. We aim to equip every child with the skills, knowledge, understanding, and confidence to thrive in the 21st-century digital landscape. Children will have the opportunity to explore, connect, and embrace technology, preparing them for the next stages of their education and future careers. They will develop a deep understanding of the significance of computing in everyday life and be empowered to reach their full potential in an ever-evolving digital world.
Through our comprehensive E-safety curriculum, pupils will gain the knowledge, skills, and empathy to safely navigate and engage with the growing online community. Our ambitious computing curriculum is delivered through high-quality teaching and diverse learning experiences to inspire and guide every child.
How is the subject taught?
We have tailored the Teach Computing curriculum to suit the unique needs of Northdown Primary School. This curriculum adopts an enquiry-based approach, integrating practical tasks to enhance learning. While core computing skills are taught as a standalone subject, digital literacy is woven throughout other areas of learning, including maths, English, science, reading, geography, history, and modern foreign languages.
