School Meals

Northdown and Caterlink are strong believers in working together to ensure all students are supported and encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle and are provided with well balanced food choices.

All Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the government legislation ‘Universal Infant Free School Meal’ (UIFSM). If you claim certain benefits though your child will be entitled to free school meals and the school will be paid a ‘pupil premium’. If your child is in KS1 and is entitled to a free school meal under the benefit system please still bring in recent proof as the government provides the school with an extra £1,200 per child. This allows the school to provide a great opportunity for your children to attend a wide range of trips and for us to purchase many educational resources.

If you are entitled to any benefits such as Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit or Income Support the School will need to check every quarter to ensure your claim is still valid. If you have any queries please speak to a member of the office team.

Any Key Stage 2 students who are not eligible for a free school meal must pay for any dinner they have in advance. This can be done by providing your child with the school dinner money in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and year and pass on to class teacher at registration. (Please note: Change will be unavailable. Please pay the correct amount or you can pay more, this will then be credited forward).

You can however, as always provide your child with a home packed lunch. School packed lunches are also available at school (these cost the same price as a school dinner).

If you have any questions or queries regarding school meals then please contact the School Office on 01843 226077.
